Japan-Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directors' talks `` Recruitment '' issues No major progress January 14 19:30

Discussions were held between the directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and South Korea, and the Japanese side again requested that the Korean government take responsibility for correcting the situation of violation of international law on the issue of "recruitment," but the Japanese side accepted a solution. No action was taken and no major progress was made.

The Foreign Affairs Director of Takizaki Asia Pacific and the Korean Foreign Affairs Director Kim Jong-han (Kinchohan) had a meeting in San Francisco, the United States, for the first time in two months on the morning of Japan time.

In this context, the Japanese side strongly urged the Korean government to remedy the situation of violation of international law promptly on the issue of "recruitment" during the Pacific War, but a solution acceptable to the Japanese side was shown. No significant progress was made.

They also exchanged views on the issue of resolving the issue, following a policy dialogue between the Korean and Japanese governments for the first time in three and a half years last December on export control to South Korea.

They agreed that continuing communication between diplomatic authorities is important.
