US Attorney General William Barr confirmed today that a Saudi student’s shooting incident at a military base in Florida last December was a “terrorist act”.

Bar also pointed out during a press conference that the Saudi authorities provided "full support" to investigate the incident, vowing to expel 21 Saudi military students after his country decided to stop training all Saudi military personnel in the United States days after the accident.

The network "CNN" had reported yesterday that the authorities will expel more than 12 Saudi soldiers who are training in US bases after reviewing the incident that killed three American soldiers and wounded eight others.

The network quoted unidentified sources as saying that the Saudis to be expelled were not accused of assisting the Saudi officer Muhammad Saeed al-Shamrani, 21, who carried out the attack, but that some of them were linked to "extremist movements," according to one of the sources.

On the other hand, the US Attorney General affirmed that there is no evidence - according to the results of the investigation - of Saudi students ’help or prior knowledge of the shooting incident, and that there is no evidence of their involvement in links with terrorist groups.

But he mentioned that investigations revealed that 15 students have contact with child pornography, and 17 of them have jihadi or anti-American material on social media.

It is noteworthy that an official had revealed to Reuters yesterday that the US government will announce "measures" according to the results of a criminal investigation conducted by the Ministry of Justice in the shooting incident.

Several media outlets - including CNN, The Washington Post and The Associated Press - have reported that more than 12 Saudi military personnel trained in US bases will be expelled from the United States.

The Washington Post said the investigation found "extremist speech, pornographic possession of children, and a small number of people failing to report disturbing militant behavior."

On December 10, the Pentagon announced the suspension of practical training for all Saudi military personnel in the United States after the accident.

The Pentagon then announced on December 19 that it had found no threat after reviewing the cases of about 850 military students from Saudi Arabia studying in the United States.
