Although peace talks have been promised, residents of the Ukrainian city of Toretsk, a few kilometers from Donetsk, do not feel that life will improve in the near future.

"Our city will not develop at all because no one is going to take it," says senior Galina Anatoljevna.

Many have fled their homes at the front to nearby towns such as Toretsk to avoid being close to the war. One of them is Konstantin Fomenko, who before the war was self-employed. Today, he lives as a refugee in Toretsk and gets through everyday life by working with plastic junk recycling.

- I sat in a basement for three days and then I had enough and moved from there, says Konstantin Fomenko.
