Paris vice-captain SG Marquinhos, 25, has extended his contract until June 2024, the Paris club announced on Monday.
Arriving in Paris in 2013 from AS Rome, the Brazilian defender has established himself as one of the executives of the PSG starred workforce alongside Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti and the stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
In 270 matches played in the Paris jersey (20 goals, 7 assists), the international Auriverde won 19 trophies: 5 French championships (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019), 4 French Cups (2015, 2016 , 2017, 2018), 5 League Cups (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and 5 Champions Trophies (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019).
In an interview with AFP carried out last November, Marquinhos had expressed his desire to make his entire career at PSG.
"If all this continues on the right track, if I continue to be happy here with the project, everything we want to get, and the admiration of the public, why not?" He said.
Beyond the cases Neymar and Mbappé, stars of the workforce to secure against the assaults of foreign competitors, several major PSG players are at the end of the contract at the end of the season: Edinson Cavani, the best scorer in history of the club, Thiago Silva, the captain of the team, and the side Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa.
