It was in October that the suspected man carried out a robbery against a store, two robbery attempts at another store and a restaurant, and an attempted robbery, during knife or gun threats, at a cash machine at Hisingen during the fall.

Last Saturday, he was arrested at Landvetter Airport after being arrested in his absence.

- We conduct several parallel investigations on robberies and robbery attempts that occurred at Hisingen during the autumn and winter. Now we have reached a breakthrough that has resulted in this detention of a man suspected of four of the crimes, says Jonas Håkansson, investigator at the Hisings police.

Waiting to alarm

At the same time, police believe that more robberies could be cleared if the victims alerted in time.

- What amazes me is that there are many occasions when you do not call 112 directly, but you call in the day after or several days later even, says Jonas Håkansson.

How big a problem would you say that is?

- It is difficult to say how widespread it is, but in the past three months there are over a third of cases in Hisingen where people do not alarm and it is a problem to clear up the crime.

Jonas Håkansson says that it is often about people who are in shock and instead choose to go home.

- Then it can also be that in some cases you get robbed on your mobile and then it is difficult to call and alert, he says.

"Knives more normalized"

In some cases, robbery is more serious, says Jonas Håkansson, he says it has become more normalized with knives in the robbery.

- It has been such a trend and it is serious. However, there is a difference between carrying a knife and using a knife, but I feel that it happens more often, he says.

The police will now investigate whether the suspected offender can be linked to more unresolved robberies and attempted robberies. He has been arrested on probable cause for three cases of attempted robbery and one case of robbery.
