Major reforms in various fields

The late Sultan Qaboos bin Sultan was born on November 18, 1940 in the city of Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate. He started his first education in Oman, then joined the British Royal Sand Academy in 1960, and graduated there two years later.

Sultan Qaboos took over the reins of Oman on July 23, 1970, and has since worked on major reforms in various political, economic, military, social, and cultural fields.

During his busy political career, Sultan Qaboos also received many Arab and international honors, including the International Peace Prize by 33 American universities and research centers and organizations in 1998, the Peace Prize by the Russian International Society in 2007, and the Jawahar Al Al Nehru Award for International Understanding from India in the same year.
