by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 11 January 2020 At least 11 people, including eight children, died in the wreck of their boat in the Aegean Sea, off the Turkish city of Cesme.

The news was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

According to the Turkish authorities, eight people were rescued. The nationality of the victims is unknown.

Cesme is a Turkish tourist resort divided by a narrow stretch of sea from the Greek island of Chios, one of the main landing points for migrants arriving in Greece from the Turkish coasts.

This new tragedy occurs a few hours after another shipwreck, the one near the Greek island of Paxi, in the Ionian Sea, where at least 12 people who probably tried to reach the Italian coast died.
