Puerto Rico was again hit by an earthquake this Saturday, January 11. A shake rated at 5.9 on the Richter scale. This Caribbean island, which is an associated state of the United States, has been living with the earthquake since December 28. At the beginning of the week, an earthquake of 6.4 on the Richter scale had caused large material damage in the south of the island and made a victim.

This time the authorities did not set off a tsunami alert, but the part of the island concerned once again suffered serious material damage. Several buildings have collapsed, including schools.

Despite the state of emergency launched last Tuesday by US President Donald Trump, the islanders say they are distraught, especially those who have been sleeping in shelters for four days following a shock of 6.4 on the scale of Richter.

The governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vasquez, assures on social networks that the authorities are doing their utmost to help those affected in the south of the island. Puerto Ricans who say they are psychologically exhausted after dozens of tremors recorded since December 28 last.
