• Middle East: Iran shot down the Ukrainian plane by mistake, according to the Intelligence of the US, Canada and the United Kingdom
  • Sinister: The 176 occupants of the crashed Ukrainian plane in Iran die

A luminous object ascends rapidly towards the sky, followed brightly that dims and continues to advance. Seconds later, a great explosion.

It is the video that was broadcast on social networks yesterday (and was later verified by The New York Times ) that shows, apparently, the moment when the Ukrainian plane with 176 passengers on board is hit by a missile, minutes before crashing near the Tehran International Airport without leaving survivors.

The recording, which lasts about 20 seconds and has been published in numerous media, points more and more towards an error of the Tehran air defense batteries, which would have shot down the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) PS752 flight in the Wednesday morning, just hours after Iran launched ballistic missiles against US military bases in Iraq, in retaliation for the drone attack ordered by US President Donald Trump, who killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.

The flight took off on Wednesday at 06H10 (02H40 GMT), but crashed minutes later, with no pilot messages indicating problems, the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization said.

Capture one of the videos of the explosion

Among the videos that appear in the last hours of the UIA plane, in which all the passengers (most of Iranian and Canadian nationality) lost their lives, the SKY News television or the BBC network have shared recordings that show both the fire in the aircraft before crashing as the moment it hits the ground.

Amid tensions between the United States and Iran, Tehran said at first that it would not deliver the black boxes recovered from the plane to Boeing, the manufacturer, or the US. However, Iranian officials later confirmed that the US has been formally invited to participate in investigations into what happened with the flight, in which the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will also be present.

It was precisely the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, one of the first to say that multiple intelligence sources indicated that Iran had demolished Ukrainian Boieing, although it could have been a mistake. 63 of those killed on the plane were Canadians. Yesterday, hundreds of people participated in a vigil in Toronto in memory of the victims. It is estimated that there are about 100,000 Canadians of Iranian origin in this city.
