France is ready to contribute its technical expertise to the investigation into the crash of the Ukrainian Boeing near Tehran if the Iranian authorities request it, the French diplomat said on Friday. This was stated by Jean-Yves Le Drian on RTL radio while specifying that it had not "yet" been contacted by the Iranian authorities.

French Foreign Minister Refuses to Draw Conclusions on the Origin of the Crash While Canada, Where Many of the Passengers Originated From, Says It Was Probably Shot Down by Iranian Missile, Probably by Error . "Before taking a position, there must be complete clarity on what happened and for that there are international investigations that must be carried out," he said.

France among the countries with technical capacities

The disaster, which resulted in the deaths of 176 people, mostly Iranians and Canadians, came soon after Tehran fired missiles at bases used by the US military in Iraq. Only a few countries, including the United States but also Germany or France, have the technical capacity to analyze black boxes.

President of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) and Deputy Minister of Transport Ali Abedzadeh has already said that Iran could use "France or other countries" to examine the contents of the boxes black found on Wednesday. "Iran and Ukraine have the means to download [the] information" it contains, "he said." But if more specialized measures are needed to extract and analyze information, we can to do in France or in other countries, "he added.

About fifty Ukrainian experts arrived in Tehran on Thursday to take part in the investigation and in particular to decipher the black boxes of the aircraft. "At one time or another, they will give the black boxes, ideally to Boeing, but if they give them to France or another country, that would also be fine," said US President Donald Trump.
