Several people were sleeping in the house when a fire suddenly started in the stairwell. When the emergency services arrived at the scene, they were forced to go in with smoke divers to extinguish the fire and evacuate the people who were in the house.
"Trapphus is an escape route for the apartments so if it had continued to burn, you do not know how it had gone," says Johan Bäckström, internal commander at the rescue service Mitt Bohuslän.
The rescue services managed to extinguish the fire before the fire spread into one of the apartments. But it was on her hair. One of the apartment doors was damaged by fire on the outside, while the inside was still intact.
During the morning, the police remained at the scene, and the house was closed off. The fire is suspected.
"There are things that make us suspect it, but what it is I do not intend to go into," says Martin Hallberg, police officer in the West Region.
No one was arrested at six o'clock in the morning for starting the fire.
