09 June 2016It is a true 'war bulletin': since the beginning of the year, at least 58 women have been killed in Italy by their partner or, more often, by an ex. Over 155 since January 2015.

Only two in the last week: a girl in Pordenone , killed with four pistol shots by her ex boyfriend who then committed suicide with the same weapon, and today the 46-year-old teacher also killed by her former partner. In both cases, the end of the relationship, the man's inability to accept that the woman leaves him and that love ends, triggers the murderous fury. But the case that has certainly caused more fanfare is that of Sara Di Pietrantonio , the 22-year-old Roman university student strangled and then burned by her ex-boyfriend, Vincenzo Paduano, who did not accept that the girl had rebuilt a life with another and that for weeks, before the fateful meeting for Sara's fate, he had threatened and persecuted her. On Friday, the young girl's funeral will be held in the capital. Another emblematic case is that of Debora Fuso , a twenty-five year old stabbed to death in Milan by Arturo Saraceno. "An embolus left me," confessed the man. Once again, the inability to accept the end of the relationship moved the killer's hand. And like Sara, Deborah had also accepted her ex's request to see and speak.

But there is not only femicide. Since January 2015, data from Telefono Rosa , at least 8,856 women have been victims of violence and 1,261 of stalking. And it is only the tip of the iceberg, given that 90% of women do not report. The historic association asks the government for answers: "How many more have to die for the government to realize that the economic resources, means and activities to combat gender-based violence are completely insufficient? How many women, girls, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends must we see ex-slaughtered, become monsters and murderers, before 'active' decisions are made and implemented suitable for a huge social problem such as that of violence against women? " Gabriella Moscatelli, president of Telefono Rosa, denounces, launching the hashtag #quanteancora .
