Bomb investigations in Borås closed down: "No more threads to pull in"

It was in September just before midnight that police were alerted to the building where Borås Tidning has its premises. At one of the entrances a bomb had dropped.

The police investigation shows that it was a so-called thermos bomb.

- It becomes a shattering effect when the steel thermos erupts. Then the force of the explosion was not so great. There were some glass panes that broke. But it is serious when it is placed in a public area, says study leader Mats Axelsson.

Two identical bombs were placed at the house. But only one of the bombs exploded.

- Why the other did not make it difficult to say. But it could very well be that the stump was not really functional, says Mats Axelsson.

Even the night before it was small in Borås. Then it happened at Sturegatan and then, according to the police, it was about a banger, a larger form of firework play.

The police took a total hold when investigating the two explosions. Now the investigations are about to be closed down. Something that Borås Tidning was the first to report.

Whether there is any connection between the blasts is still unclear.

- What speaks against is that two different materials were used in the blasts, a purchased banger and a homemade item. The reason for this is that it is fairly close geographically and fairly close in time. We have not been able to determine or deny if there is a connection. But we have nevertheless studied it together so as not to miss anything.
