The crew of a struggling sailboat was rescued by the sailors of the National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM) of Belle-Île en Mer (Morbihan) Thursday evening. Prisoners of a very rough sea, two women and three men called for help. Their boat was overturned and the mast broke. In cardiopulmonary arrest, a woman died shortly after being rescued, specifies the maritime prefecture.

The five occupants of the boat were knocked down by a sudden gust of wind and thought they were near Belle-Ile. An hour and a half after their distress call, witnesses reported seeing red rockets in the Pointe des Chats sector on the Île de Groix. The sailboat was relocated there by the Civil Security helicopter Dragon 56.

One death and one injured

Faced with strong seas and a force 5 wind, the lifeboat "Notre Dame du calme" from the SNSM station in Groix managed to tow the sailboat "Reder Mor" to Port-Tudy (Groix island) . The death of the 46-year-old woman was noted by a Smur doctor at 3 a.m. on Friday. Another injured crew member was transported by helicopter to Lorient hospital. The other crew members, shocked, were also admitted to the hospital.
