The first snow cannons were purchased as early as the 1980s and the intention was to extend the ski season. But in recent years, the cannons have been decisive for the slope to remain open throughout the season.

The plant in Vännäs is ideally run by the outdoor promotion and a large part of the work is about preparing the hill with cannon snow.

Michael Hägglund has worked as a volunteer for 30 years and he can only state that snow cannons are now a natural part of the business.

- It's been a long time since there was a lot of snow in November, December. It must be ten or fifteen years since we had such a winter that we would be able to survive on natural snow, says Michael Hägglund, responsible for skiing at Middagsberget.
