January 09, 2020 The Sea Watch 3 ship "has just rescued 17 other people in distress at sea. Like many others today, they were attempting to escape the war and torture in Libya." Sea Watch writes it on Twitter. "Since the EU closes its eyes towards those who risk their lives by fleeing along the Mediterranean, we will not stop seeking and providing aid," continues the NGO.

"We will continue the research also during the night - ensures the NGO via Twitter - today 7 cases in the Mediterranean and only one ship. The European authorities contacted have ignored us".

Sea Watch had already rescued 60 people a few hours earlier while a boat with 41 on board was reported in danger in Maltese Sar waters. "They are embarking on water and have been drifting for hours," reports Alarm Phone.

đź”´ # SeaWatch3 has just rescued 17 other people, including 8 children, from a boat spotted in the morning by #Moonbird.

We will continue our searches also during the night.
