“Voting is scheduled for the afternoon of January 10,” the TASS diplomat quotes.

According to him, two resolutions have been submitted to the UN Security Council - the draft of Belgium and Germany and the Russian proposal, which involves "the delivery of humanitarian aid to Idlib through Turkey and the removal of border crossings from Iraq and Jordan."

As the agency clarifies with reference to copies of resolutions, Western countries are proposing to keep three checkpoints, including a checkpoint on the Syrian border with Iraq, while Russia advocates the introduction of two checkpoints.

At the same time, the parties agreed to extend the existing mechanism of cross-border humanitarian assistance to Syria for six months instead of a year.

In late December, the UN Security Council did not adopt a Russian resolution on humanitarian aid to Syria, Russia, in turn, vetoed the Western project.
