Suhail Butti Al Dhafari Al Muhairi supervises eight systems: the energy system, the propulsion system, the control and command system, the mechanical system, the thermal system, the navigational system, the communication system, and the programming system, in addition to his tasks in systems engineering, installation, assembly, and monitoring of the readiness of each system to work in Starship.

Systems Engineering Leader, Mohsen Mohamed Al-Awadi, who holds a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Colorado University Boulder, oversees mission requirements, makes sure that designs are accomplished to achieve the goal of the scientific project, and he is responsible for making sure that the earth station can communicate with the probe of hope.

As for Omar Hassan Al-Shehhi, he is responsible for integrating different systems and scientific devices to form the final probe model, and to test it in different environments that simulate the stages the probe will go through in the space environment.

Engineer Aisha Salahuddin Sharafi is working on the propulsion system, which provides the probe with the fuel needed to enter its orbit around Mars after its separation from the missile.

As for Hessa Ali Hussein, she works as an engineer for the control and data-processing systems of the probe, which is the main system on board the probe that works to monitor all its tasks and health.

The work of Fatima Hussein Lootah, a scientific researcher, within the team of scientific instruments for the probe, Hope, focuses on studying the state of oxygen and carbon monoxide in the top cover of Mars.

150 engineers and researchers

The Mars Exploration project is managed by an Emirati team of seven departments, consisting of more than 150 engineers and researchers, and the probe of hope will start on its mission, next July, to reach Mars by 2021, coinciding with the passage of 50 years since the establishment of the UAE, on a journey during which he will cut more than 600 million km.
