Russia qualified for the ATP Cup semifinals on Thursday at the expense of Argentina thanks to the victories of Karen Khachanov and his prodigy Daniil Medvedev.

Medvedev, world No.5, clinched the qualifying point for the last four by winning (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) in 2:22 the match at the top of this confrontation against Diego Schwartzman, 14th in the world.

Before him, Khachanov had put his team on good track by defeating Guido Pella in 1 hour 38, 6-2, 7-6 (7/4).

The Russians are thus qualified without waiting for double.

In the semifinals on Saturday, they will meet Djokovic's Serbia or Canada, who compete on Friday for their ticket in the last four of the competition between nations.

Earlier, Australia's Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur qualified at the expense of Great Britain (2-1).
