They have been waiting for three months. Three months since they saw a fighter plane tear off the roof of their house and crash a few meters away. Three months that they had to leave their accommodation. In Pluvigner, in Morbihan, the family victim of the crash of an F-16 on September 19 becomes impatient. In an open letter, Patrick Kauffer expressed his annoyance. “Our situation has not changed since the crash. We are still unable to return to our house because the damage is much greater than expected, "regrets the owner.
At the end of September, their house had been disfigured by the passage of a Belgian fighter plane. The two F-16 pilots survived by ejecting shortly before their aircraft crashed. According to the Belgian Air Force, it was "an engine problem" that was at the origin of the accident. An investigation had been opened and entrusted to the Air research section based in Vélizy-Villacoublay and to the BEA (Accident Investigation Office).
"Not everyone has the same interpretation of the word fast"
On his property, the Morbihan native notes with sadness that the polluted land which was treated by the military at the end of the year is still present. The army would await the response to a tender to have them removed. Above all, the Kauffer couple questioned the sincerity of the public authorities. “During the first days after the crash, the Belgian and French authorities all told us that everything would go very quickly and that we would be compensated very quickly. You have to believe that everyone does not have the same interpretation of the word quickly, "denounces Patrick Kauffer who adds. "We are still struggling and every day is complicated".
The couple now know that they will not be able to return to their home but are waiting to know what the amount of compensation will be in order to consider a property purchase.
