“Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in which he expressed sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the crash of a Ukrainian passenger plane near Tehran,” the Kremlin’s press service said.

As noted, Putin conveyed words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims.

The Russian president also sent a telegram to Rukhani. In it, he expressed deep condolences in connection with the deaths of citizens of Iran and several other countries as a result of the incident.

“In Russia, they share the sorrow of those who have lost their near and dear ones, and wish them steadfastness and courage,” the head of the Russian state emphasized.

On January 8, a Ukrainian airline's Boeing 737 crashed shortly after taking off from an airport in Tehran. According to information published by Kiev, on board were 177 people, all died.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadim Pristayko also published information on the citizenship of the victims.
