08 January 2020 31 May is not the date by which the transfer of Alitalia must take place. This was clarified by the Minister for Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli, in the hearing in the Chamber, explaining that rather this date is comparable to that of 31 October 2018 for the preparation of the new procedure.

"It is nowhere written that the closing must be done by May 31st," explains Patuanelli. In fact, for the minister "it is physically impossible, closing takes place when the keys are handed over to the new subject".

On October 31, 2018 "is when the commissioners implemented a public tender procedure", he recalled, explaining that "Railways, together with Delta, started working on the industrial plan and they opened the search for other partners". So "this is the picture of the times, so it is not that if on May 31 there is no delivery of the keys to the new operator, we are not respecting the timing", underlined Patuanelli.

Needless to mention Atlantia again
"Continuing to talk about Atlantia is absolutely useless," added the Minister of Economic Development to the Chamber Transport Commission on the Alitalia decree, regarding the affair of the Benetton group with the relaunch of the company.

Interlocution required between Leogrande, Fs and Delta
"There must be an immediate dialogue between the extraordinary commissioner Alitalia with Fs and Delta to understand the needs of that industrial plan" prepared previously, the minister said, stressing therefore that "the work that Fs has done must be made available by Commissioner "Giuseppe Leogrande.

It is a narrow and uphill road, no great choice range
"There are some aspects to be clarified on the political line. We are inside a road, narrow and uphill. Narrow because there is a regulatory stake - the extraordinary administration - with the possibilities of the commissioner that are not infinite. It is It is clear that Alitalia is unable to manage its operations with a profit, because the costs are higher than the revenues annually. The commissioner's operational possibilities are two: market or conferral with a temporary nationalization. There is not a large range of choice that politics can make. The government does not evaluate offers or business plans, "explained Patuanelli.

The 400 million of the decree sufficient for the procedure
The additional 400 million allocated by the Government with the conversion decree law, together with the 150 million benefit deriving from the remodulation of the interests established by the MEF and the availability of cash, are sufficient for Alitalia to conclude the new transfer procedure which the new extraordinary commissioner, assured the Minister for Economic Development. "The government is convinced that the cash availability, with the 400 million of the decree and the MEF provision that frees up resources for 150 million, allows the company to get to the end of the procedure".
