Drawing. Gendarmes at night. - F. Scheiber / 20 Minutes

A 48-year-old father has accused himself of the murder of his 7-year-old daughter, the Colmar prosecutor's office said on Tuesday evening. The facts would have occurred Monday in Ingersheim, a small wine-growing commune near Colmar in the Haut-Rhin.

The father came to pick up his daughter Monday afternoon at the end of the school and then presented himself around 5 pm at the gendarmerie of Ingersheim to "accuse himself of the murder of his daughter", indicates the public prosecutor , Catherine Sorita-Minard. The gendarmes immediately went to his home and unfortunately found the child's body. The individual was immediately taken into custody for "murder of a minor (under) 15 years of age," said the prosecutor.

"Strangulation and drowning"

The causes of the child's death have yet to be determined, but the first elements indicate that it is "strangulation" and drowning, said the magistrate. An autopsy of the girl's body will be performed on Thursday. The context of the drama also needs to be refined, said the magistrate, according to whom the parents of the little girl had been living apart for several months. The suspect, who was still in police custody Tuesday evening, will be referred this Wednesday afternoon and a judicial investigation will be opened.
