The 3,200 employees of Royal Agio, a Dutch cigar manufacturer based in Eindhoven (Netherlands), are about to receive an incredible bonus. These employees will soon share the sum of 10 million euros, reports the Les Echos website. This gift is offered to them on the occasion of the purchase of the family company by the Danish group Scandinavian Tobacco Group for 210 million euros.

The Wintermans family, head of Royal Agio since its foundation in 1904, will soon cease to run the company. "We want to be grateful for the loyalty of our employees, some of whom have passed from father to son," said Boris Wintermans, the fourth member of the Dutch family to hold the position of CEO.

All firms will receive this amount

All employees are affected by the bonus, whether they work in the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic or Sri-Lanka, the three countries where the group operates a site. The amount of the bonus received will be calculated based on the salary and seniority of each employee in this company with a turnover of 133 million euros.

"The news of the news in the Dominican Republic led to crises of tears and joy and hugs between colleagues," said the marketing director of Royal Agio, which is one of the world's largest producers of cigars. "This gesture is all the more appreciated in this country because of the lack of adequate social security coverage," she added.
