Firefighters in Nantes. - F.BRENON / 20 Minutes

Twenty fire starts. A 37-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody on Tuesday in Nantes after a disturbing series of fires in buildings, reports the newspaper Ouest-France . During the month of December, several fires broke out in car parks and entrance halls, in the city center and in different districts, without causing any casualties.

After these fires, sometimes several a day, the trail of an arsonist had been envisaged by the investigators and a judicial investigation had been opened for 23 acts of willful damage, indicates Ouest-France . The suspect, a homeless man, was finally arrested in the Zola neighborhood (where several fires have been reported) after a search warrant was launched against him late last week.
