The man suspected of having killed, on January 1, a 22-year-old woman with a bullet in the head, in Montpellier (Hérault), was imprisoned, learned 20 Minutes from Fabrice Bélargent, the public prosecutor . Justice has indeed confirmed Tuesday the continued detention of the suspect, indicted for manslaughter.

The 33-year-old man, who had more than one gram of alcohol in his blood that night, and the victim, had spent Christmas Eve together, notes the representative of the prosecution.

Accidental gesture, suspect

In police custody, the thirty-something would have admitted to being the source of the shot that killed the young woman, in a car, near a nightclub in the capital of Hérault. The man allegedly explained that he had handled the weapon in the back seat of a car after a very alcoholic evening, forgetting that the magazine was inside.

He would however have assured that his gesture had been involuntary, and would have indicated that he had obtained a weapon to protect himself, a relative, his cousin, having been killed a few weeks earlier, in Avignon, within the framework of a probable settlement of accounts.
