In December, the narcotics brigade of the Puy-de-Dôme departmental security dismantled a vast cocaine traffic in Clermont-Ferrand, reports La Montagne . The drugs came from Suriname and transited through Guyana before arriving in the Auvergne capital.

Eight people indicted

After several months of investigation, the police arrested a man who had 453 grams of cocaine on him, on December 13. During the search of his apartment, the police arrested six other individuals, all suspected of being part of the network. Then, on December 27, another person was intercepted at Orly airport in possession of 3 kg of cocaine.

The eight suspects were charged with trafficking and importing drugs. Seven of them were placed in pre-trial detention and the last was placed under judicial supervision. According to the investigators, they would have sold nearly 17 kg of cocaine in ten months in Clermont-Ferrand. The police also seized 17,000 euros during these various operations.
