The Montauban prosecutor Laurent Czernik evokes a "dispute, against a backdrop of jealousy", which turned into drama on Saturday. A woman in her forties, who admitted to having stabbed her partner with a fatal knife, was charged with "murder by a partner" and imprisoned.

"She admitted to taking a kitchen knife and hitting her chest," said the prosecutor. According to Laurent Czernik, the forty-something criticized the victim, aged 30, "for not having cut ties with an old relationship". The 30-year-old died at the marital home before help arrived. The police were alerted by a family member of the suspect, who contacted him after the fatal assault.

Quarrels in the past

The couple had already quarreled, according to Laurent Czernik, but the victim had not made a report. The two women, who had met on the Internet, had lived together in Montauban since last summer, when the forty-something woman had left the Paris region to come and settle in the prefecture of Tarn-et-Garonne.
