The British newspaper "The Independent" said that the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria, announced to its young men and women that it had launched an initiative that provides facilities and financial grants to encourage them to form families.

It has allocated about $ 1,100 to anyone who marries, in addition to the post-engagement temptations.

Despite the joy generated by the initiative, it caused the re-raising of the issue of the Christian presence in Syria.

Christian observers attribute the slight improvement to the decrease in the number of Christian immigrants to security stability in the most prominent areas and cities in Syria that witness Christian density, including Damascus and Aleppo.

And the harsh migration that Christian communities witnessed, starting in 2011, towards neighboring countries or European countries, caused panic over the fate and future of East Christians.

However, despite the destruction caused by the war machine in most of the places of worship in the city of Aleppo before 2015, it was rebuilt and restored.

Meanwhile, many young Syrians from different denominations and religions see this initiative as meaningful and bearing a flood of positivity, in the hope that it will contribute to solving economic and social problems.

Rami Martini, a specialist in religious sociology, is taking this step positively, expected to contribute to moving the wheel of life in light of the bloody events.

Martini alludes to the initiative and the positive steps in support of the members of the community, "which solve the dilemma of the reluctance of many young people to marry because of the high dowries, the costs of the wedding and the insurance of housing, with the Church bearing the expenses and paying the housing allowance as well."

While she urged the Diocese to have the marriage during 2020, it stipulated that the family should continue to reside in the parish of Aleppo and its aftermath.

Among the incentives, the diocese guarantees the completion of the ritual of marriage in the Archdiocese churches without wages and offering church halls for free for congratulations, in addition to the wedding party and the amount of one million Syrian pounds (equivalent to one thousand and one hundred dollars) a marriage gift, and cover the rent of the house for a year (for those who do not have a house in Aleppo and its dependencies) ).

Post-marriage assistance includes covering hospital expenses for deliveries, providing baby formula and diapers and free education.
