The world champion in mountain biking, the French Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, forfeited Tuesday for the French cyclo-cross championships, scheduled for Sunday, and announced that she would have to undergo a new surgery.

"For the past 15 days, I have felt abnormal symptoms in the lower left limb in cyclo-cross," explained on her Facebook account the Champenoise, who returned last year to a very high level after having been operated on January 23, an iliac endofibrosis in the left leg at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris.

"After being asked by my doctors, investigations could be set up very quickly. The diagnosis of recurrent iliac endofibrosis was confirmed yesterday (same side, above my old operation)," said the Frenchwoman.

"This lesion, although less severe than the old one, requires surgical intervention. I will therefore be operated on Friday," concluded Pauline Ferrand-Prévot who made the MTB race at the Tokyo Olympics next summer his big goal.
