The Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced that the '88th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony' will be held at the 11th Baekbeom Kim-gu Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul tomorrow morning.

The ceremony, hosted by the Lee Bong-Chang Memorial Foundation, is attended by more than 150 people, including Oh Jin-young, President of Seoul Regional Veterans Administration, head of independence movement groups, and citizens.

The doctor arrived in Tokyo at the end of December after joining the Korean Patriots Group on December 13, 1931, and received information that King Hirohito attended the New Year's parade ceremony held at Yoyogi parade hall on January 8, 1932.

The doctor threw a bomb at him when a monarch appeared in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Agency on January 8, 1932.

The bomb exploded next to a wagon ride instead of the Japanese palace, and the plan to destroy the king was unsuccessful.

Arrested at the scene, the doctor was sentenced to death at the Tokyo Supreme Court on September 30 of the same year and traveled to Ichigaya Prison on October 10 at 9:02 am.

Although he failed to explode, he became a new vitality for the anti-Japanese movement, including the Provisional Government.

The remains of the doctor were repatriated to Korea by Kim Gu in 1946 and buried in Hyochang Park.

In 1962, the government issued the President's Medal of Honor for his medical service.
