In return with the external pressures and the possibility (very remote) that a tamayazo occurs, this Monday of Kings passes as a sort of day of reflection for the few socialists who are critical of the Pedro Sánchez pacts with ERC and the PNV. But the truth is that none of the 120 deputies of the Socialist Group has left the fold of the voting discipline, not even dialectically.

In public, there have been no voices contrary, or forceful, to the path that the socialist leader has traveled to get - presumably - his endowment. In private the thing changes, but it is still sterile.

Even the most Jacobin barons have not rebelled, such as Emiliano Garcia Page ( Castilla-La Mancha ), Guillermo Fernández Vara ( Extremadura ) or the Aragonese Javier Lambán, who just a year ago did not see the illegalization of the independence parties and this Tuesday he will contemplate how his related deputies will verbalize a "yes" to the "dialogue table".

These three regional presidents have threatened to express criticism and have revealed their discontent, at most, but have not set foot on the wall before the utilitarian embrace of Ferraz to the separatists, finally consummated on Sunday with the null response of Pedro Sánchez to the Disqualifications of Mertxe Aizpurua , spokesman for EH Bildu convicted of apology for terrorism in 1984.

The arithmetic of the investiture is very tight, so that any vote "in conscience" of a socialist against the agreement with ERC would make Sanchez's options decline. But no one in the PSOE believes that will happen. Nor do they expect surprises in Moncloa. The endowment is "almost done," they discount. Fundamentally, because the supports are immovable, even that of Teruel exists. And because if a socialist deputy recovered the mantra of "no no no" tomorrow and broke the voting discipline, he would be immediately condemned to socialist ostracism.

Batet, Robles and Manuel Cruz, among them

That is to say, the opposite would happen to the 15 faithful deputies to Sánchez who did not obey the mandate of the party - then directed by a manager - so as not to abstain in the investiture of Mariano Rajoy in October 2016. All of them were long politically rewarded later, when Pedro Sánchez recovered the general secretariat of the party and renewed both internal organs and external offices.

Their names now form a first-level team: Meritxell Batet, Margarita Robles, Manuel Cruz, José Zaragoza , Zaida Cantera , Odón Elorza, Susana Sumelzo , Lidia Guinart , Marc Lamuà , Mercé Perea , Joan Ruiz , Rocío de Frutos , Sofía Hernanz , Pere Joan Pons and Luz Martínez Seijo . There was a sixteenth rebel , of course: Sanchez himself, who resigned as deputy to remove the chalice of abstention from himself and rearm his socialist alternative from outside Congress.

In the pole position of those compensated for this service to the Sanchista cause is Batet , current president of the Congress of Deputies and, therefore, third authority in the country. Although she - who belongs to the PSC - supported Patxi López in the PSOE primaries, Sanchez recovered her for the Government that emerged from the motion of censure. He appointed her Minister of Territorial Policy , that is, her liaison with Catalonia. In May of last year, after the general elections, she was elected president of the Lower House, and re-elected in December.

Margarita Robles, who had achieved the deputy act as Sanchez's number two in 2016 - being independent - remained faithful to him and voted against the investiture of Rajoy. The play went well. The following year she was already a spokesperson for the Socialist Group in Congress, and in 2018 she was appointed Minister of Defense . Now he has the power to repeat in office, although there is a perennial sector of the PSOE that demands his departure.

Elorza, Susana Sumelzo and Martínez Seijo

Another case of success behind is that of Manuel Cruz , who ascended no less than the president of the Senate, although now he has not repeated in office. Zaida Cantera , one of Sánchez's signings that did not finish curdling, has nevertheless remained in Congress, and nothing less than the list of Madrid, which serves as a letter of presentation of the party. In addition, he was a spokesman for Defense in Congress for almost two years.

Susana Sumelzo led the electoral ballot of the PSOE for Zaragoza and is secretary of the Municipal Policy area of the Ferraz Executive, where she shares a table with Odón Elorza , secretary of Transparency (and head of the list for Guipúzcoa to Congress), and with Luz Martínez Seijo , executive secretary of Education and Universities (and number one for Palencia). Sofía Hernaz is number two of the PSOE by the Balearic Islands in the Lower House, just behind Pere Joan Pons , another of the illustrious "no es no". Mercé Perea and José Zaragoza have also entered through the big door to the Congress, occupying exit positions in the list for Barcelona. Marc Lamuà was number one for Gerona, the same position Joan Ruiz held in Tarragona.

As you can see, everyone has been successful, objectively, after facing the status quo of their party. But, of course, those 15 deputies broke the discipline of the PSOE, because they could. Because there were two clear alternatives of power in the party: Susana Díaz, who supported abstention, and Pedro Sánchez, who won clearly with the vote of the militants.

Now there is no option other than Sanchez. Neither Lambán, nor Page, nor Vara have even threatened to set that path. The conclusion is obvious: "Yes it is yes."
