- There are two separate events, possibly a third one that we are investigating. We see if there is any connection and if we can bring up any suspects for the incidents, says Peter Lindgren, on-duty investigative leader at the Västerbotten police.

It was at 21 o'clock on Saturday that the first attack happened, something that vk.se was the first to report. An underage guy was on his way to the bus hub Vasaplan from City Hall Square in the central city when a large gang of about 20-25 youths abused and threatened him.

He was injured at the time. It is unclear if he was forced to seek care. The police classify the incident as abuse.

Further attacks

On Sunday, an attack occurred at about the same place. At 20, four people were hounded and beaten by a gang of 10-20 people on their way to Vasaplan. It is unclear how extensive the injuries they received, but according to vk.se, all four were forced to seek emergency care.

The police are actively investigating the events and thus believe that there may be a connection. No suspects have been arrested and there is no known motive.

- We have some ideas to go on, but there are many individuals involved. 20-25 people is like a whole school class.

Should the public be worried about future events?

- No, I wouldn't say that. We have several patrols who work on these cases, hold hearings and try to secure surveillance films, says investigator Peter Lindgren.

The police are now appealing for tips from the public. Anyone who has made observations about the events or in close connection is invited to tip on number 114 14.
