The liturgy on Christmas is served by the rector of the cathedral, Nikolai Bryndin.
The service is attended by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan and St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov.
In the Transfiguration Cathedral, the president already celebrated Christmas in 2019.
Earlier it was reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev plan to attend Christmas services on the night of Tuesday, January 7.
