After a three-hitchcock final with Patrick Reed and Xander Schauffele, the American Justin Thomas won the Tournament of Champions (PGA) in the third and last play-off hole, in the 4th and last round on Sunday evening in Hawaii.

Thomas, winner in 2017 of the PGA Championship, could have settled the question without having to use this extension, on the course from Plantation to Kapalua. But both bogeyed the 16th and 18th holes have allowed his compatriots Patrick Reed and Xander Schauffele to pick accusing each a total of -14.

On the first play-off hole is Schauffele leader yesterday, who cracked the scoring by where its rivals have done better with a birdie each. He thus narrowly missed the double after his victory last year.

It was at the 3rd play-off hole that Justin Thomas, 26, finally had the last word against Reed by winning another birdie, to win his 12th tournament on the North American professional circuit.

The Tournament of Champions brings together the winners of last season's tournaments and unofficially kicks off the new season.
