Monday is Epiphany and back to school. For employees on vacation, schoolchildren, students, returning to work may be even more painful than usual because of the strike movement that persists at SNCF against the reform of pension plans. In its traffic forecasts for Hauts-de-France, the carrier is also confusing to say the least.

To summarize and more or less, it remains at the same stage as before the end of year holidays as regards the circulation of trains in the region. In its press release, published this Sunday, the SNCF mentions regional traffic "very disturbed" and TGV and international traffic "disturbed".

"Strong improvement", yes, but not with us

For TER, count 4 out of 10 circulations, part of which is provided by coaches. Count 8 out of 10 Ouigo trains, 7 out of 10 intersectors, 9 Eurostar out of 10 and 4 Thalys out of 5. The carrier nonetheless announces “almost normal” traffic for TGV Lille-Paris. Nothing to be frankly happy about, especially for regional train users.

And yet, in this same press release, the SNCF welcomes a "strong improvement in TER traffic in the regions". According to the carrier, the national average stands at 6 TER out of 10, an increase of 20%. In Hauts-de-France, this results in the reopening of three closed lines: Amiens-Rouen, Laon-Hirson and Calais-Dunkerque.

In our region, the real improvement is on the TGV North line. According to SNCF forecasts, 98% of the trains between Lille and Paris will actually run on Monday.
