January 05, 2020 "In many parts of the world there is a terrible air of tension. War brings only death and destruction. We invite all parties to keep the flame of dialogue and self-control burning and to ward off the shadow of enmity. We pray in silence for the Lord to give us this grace ". Pope Francis said it during the Angelus in St. Peter's Square this morning. A reflection addressed to the many crises open in the world and in particular to the growing tension between the US and Iran.

"We practice peace," said Pope Francis again. "On this first Sunday of the year I renew to all the best wishes for serenity and peace in the Lord. In happy and difficult moments, let us entrust ourselves to him, who is our hope! I also remember the commitment we took on New Year's Eve, Peace Day: 'Peace as a path of hope: dialogue, reconciliation and ecological conversion'. With the grace of God, we will be able to put it into practice ".

"Communion with God must be translated into concrete action in daily life in the encounter with others, become charity and mercy towards others", continued Pope Francis referring to today's Gospel which returns to underline the meaning of Christmas. "Today's liturgy tells us that the gospel of Christ is not a fairy tale, a myth, an edifying story, no, it is the full revelation of God's plan for man and the world. If the Lord continues to come among us , if he continues to give us the gift of his Word, it is because each of us can respond to this call: to become saints in love. Holiness is belonging to God, communion with Him, transparency of his infinite goodness. Therefore, those who welcome within themselves holiness as a gift of grace cannot fail to translate it into concrete action in everyday life, in meeting with others ".
