  • P&R. The almighty empire behind General Qasem Soleimani in Iran

Thousands of Iraqis chant this Saturday "death to the US" in procession around the coffins of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mehdi al-Mouhandis , their chief lieutenant in Iraq, killed the day before in an American raid, says an Afp photographer.

Participants in this funeral procession, in the Kazimiya district of Baghdad that houses a Shiite shrine, also shout "revenge for Abou Mehdi al-Mouhandis ", chief operating officer of Hachd al-Chaabi , coalition of paramilitaries integrated into Iraqi security forces .

In total, the "precision shooting of an American drone" that pulverized the two cars in which Soleimani and Mouhandis were in the night from Thursday to Friday left ten dead: five Iraqis and five Iranians. The coffins of the five Iraqis have arrived in Kazimiya in vans with national flags among a crowd dressed completely in black. The bodies of the five Iranians have been wrapped in the Iranian flag.

Some in the crowd show portraits of the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei , or of the Lebanese leader of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah who claims to form with Hashd the "axis of resistance" to the United States and Israel in the Middle East , and who has called for the "just punishment" of the "criminal murderers" responsible for the death of Soleimani.

After the Kazimiya parade, an official national funeral will be held in the Green Zone of Baghdad in the presence of many Iraqi leaders.
