• The complaint: Three young people arrested for the rape of three American sisters in Murcia
  • The facts: The violations reported by three American sisters in Murcia occurred in two homes

The holder of the Court of Instruction number 9 of Murcia has decreed this Saturday provisional release without bail for the three young Afghans who were arrested as alleged perpetrators of sexually assaulting three American sisters last New Year's Eve in Murcia.

Sources of the Superior Court of Justice of the Region of Murcia (TSJ) have indicated that the judge has established as precautionary measures the weekly appearance in the court of the three defendants, the withdrawal of their passport and the prohibition of approaching young women, all they requested by the Prosecutor.

In the order issued by the holder of the court of instruction it is established that the three defendants are investigated for two alleged sexual assaults and another attempted sexual assault.

The three Afghans were transferred in the morning of this Saturday in vehicles of the National Police from two police stations in the city of Murcia to the City of Justice, where the guard courts are located.

The sisters left Spain yesterday for Vienna (Austria), where they met the rest of their family and from where they intended to return to the United States.

The alleged sexual assault on the three sisters took place in two different homes, one in the Plaza de la Candelaria de Murcia, where the youngest of them resided during their stay as a student, and another in the home of the three Afghan citizens arrested .

Two of the three detainees had recently granted political asylum in Spain and one of them studied Vocational Training in Murcia, without any of them having a criminal record and their situation is regular in Spain, since they have a residence permit.

As explained by the delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Jiménez, the two older sisters of whom he was studying in Murcia traveled to the city at Christmas to spend a few days on vacation in Spain, traveling all three to his country once he had finished his course of studies.

One of the three sisters was the one who went to the police station to file the complaint according to which she had reported that her sisters had also been assaulted.

The one who filed the complaint was with one of the three aggressors to the home he had rented in the Plaza de la Candelaria, where the aggression occurred. Later, the other two sisters went to the home of the other two aggressors, where another sexual assault also occurred.
