Plastic surgery has become a common process, and here we offer some fallacies that people convey about it.

1- It prevents aging
The Spanish newspaper, "The Thi", quoted cosmetic surgeon Mwasi Martin Anaya from Virgen de Paloma Hospital as saying that the first false myth about plastic surgery specialists is preventive surgery.

As Anaya stressed that there is no process to prevent aging, but there are some measures to improve the appearance, and also stressed that it is not possible to perform a face-lift before the appearance of wrinkles.

2- Surgery is a gift
The cosmetic expert pointed out that there is another lie in the world of aesthetic medicine, which is that some families consider that performing cosmetic surgeries on the occasion of birthdays and at certain ages, can be a gift. He also cautioned that performing surgery is a crucial decision that involves many risks.

3- Common for teenagers
Among other rumors about the work of specialists in this field, they are cosmetic surgery for adolescents. But this belief is unfounded because the consent of parents or guardians and reaching the age of majority are among the necessary conditions when performing surgical operations such as operations on the chest, nose or ears.

Doctor Martin Anaya explained that in complex cases, a child or teenager can undergo plastic surgery, after the psychiatrist supervises these cases, similar to a girl at the age of 16 who suffers from depression because she does not have a chest or because her breasts are large.

4- Similar operations for everyone
Martin Anaya explained that it is not possible to perform similar cosmetic operations for everyone, because every person has natural facial divisions that distinguish him from others.

5- Selfie
Attention, visualization, and anxiety about the appearance that involves imagining imperfect faults to the point of mania is called "somatic disorder. This term has been associated in recent years with networks and applications that allow you to change the appearance, similar to Instagram filters or Snapchat filters.

But for the cosmetic expert, it is still too early to know how these applications affect our perception of the image itself. However, the selfies are known to have raised appearance concerns, but they have not doubled the demand for cosmetic surgeries.
