In Burkina Faso, at least fourteen civilians were killed on Saturday, January 4, in the explosion of a minibus. An improvised explosive device detonated when the vehicle passed, carrying around 20 passengers, including many students, according to a security source.

The drama occurred on the Toéni-Tougan axis, between the villages of Donkou and Dagalé, in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, in the north-west of the country.

It was around 9:00 am that the incident occurred, according to several security sources. An improvised device exploded on the passage of several transport vehicles.

" There were three vehicles in the convoy, " according to a government source. These minibuses had several passengers on board and many pupils among them.

" These pupils returned from their villages after the end of year celebrations and returned to their place of study, " says an administrative authority.

Only a minibus was affected by the explosion of the artisanal mine. Fourteen people died on the spot, according to our sources. Several injured were also reported, including four in serious condition, according to the same sources.

An administrative authority announces that the wounded have been evacuated to a health center.

" It is not known at the moment how many students were affected by this attack, " said a government source, who said, however, that students were among the victims.
