The Council of Senior Religious Scholars in Al-Azhar expressed its support for the Egyptian position "to preserve the security and safety of Egypt and the security of the entire region", and announced its rejection of any foreign interference on Libyan soil.

In an emergency meeting held by the Council of Senior Scholars chaired by Sheikh Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb today, she stressed that "any external interference on Libyan soil is corruption on the ground and spoilage that will only lead to further complicating the situation in Libya, spilling more blood and killing innocent lives."

The statement issued by the commission rejected "the logic of guardianship, which some regional countries claim on the Arab world, and which it takes as a pretext to violate its sovereignty, and to affirm that solving the problems of the region can only be with an internal will among the brothers."

The Council of Senior Scholars called for "all Libyan brothers to prevail over the voice of reason and wisdom and refuse to seek strength abroad, because this represents the destruction of the future of Libya and the fragmentation of its territorial integrity, and the tearing of the bonds of brotherhood among its sons."

"The entire world, foremost among which is the Islamic countries and international institutions concerned with the maintenance of international peace and security, must prevent this interference before it occurs, and reject the power of wars that lead the region and the world towards an all-out war," the statement said.

The Egyptian Council of Senior Scholars called on "all Libyan brothers to prevail over the voice of reason and wisdom and refuse to be strong abroad, because this represents the destruction of Libya's future, the fragmentation of its territorial integrity, and the tearing of the bonds of brotherhood among its sons."

Egyptian security sources had previously said that the security authorities responsible for the media had asked journalists and artists to urge and mobilize the Egyptians to "line up around the political leadership in the event of a war between Egypt and Turkey on Libyan soil."

The sources indicated to Al-Jazeera Net that the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel, personally supervises the process of militarizing the street and raising it against Turkey, and demanded that journalists and artists speak on their accounts on social media and among their knowledge circles about the need to line up behind President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the face of Turkish President Ragab Ok Erdogan.

He also demanded that they talk about "Turkey targeting the occupation of Egypt and breaking the prestige of the Egyptian army in the region, by sending units of its army to Libya."

He demanded that they accuse any person who rejects the war decision of "treason and employment, and must be rejected and even informed if necessary."

On Thursday, the Turkish parliament approved by a majority of 325 votes to 184, against an authorization note allowing the presidency to send military forces to Libya, to support the internationally recognized government of reconciliation.

On the other hand, the forces of retired Libyan Major General Khalifa Haftar are using Sudanese and Russian mercenaries, in addition to Egyptian and Emirati military support in their campaign to control the capital, Tripoli.
