The Reds easily won against Sheffield United (2-0) Thursday night in the last game of match 21 of the English league. They maintain their lead of thirteen points over Leicester, who won Wednesday in Newcastle (3-0) and fourteen points over Manchester City, victorious Everton (2-1).

It has now been over a year since the European champions have not lost a Premier League match. Their victory against Sheffield United (2-0), the nineteenth in twenty league games this season, was once again unchallenged, as their technical and tactical mastery was overwhelming. Sheffield United was reduced to a mere role of appearing during almost the entire meeting.

The promoted resigned from the 4th minute of play, where the Reds opened the scoring with insolent success which seems to predestine them to the title of champion. Mohamed Salah, who recovered his influence from the 2017/18 season, was at the reception of a perfect cross from Andrew Robertson (4th, 1-0). He then had four other scoring chances (11th, 30th, 60th, 69th), but it was Sadio Mané who gave the final advantage to the Reds, precisely after a one-two with the Egyptian (64th , 2-0).

The second period looked like a training match, with an opponent reduced to 22% possession. Chris Wilder's players only created a clear opportunity at the very end of the match.

The only negative point of the evening for the Reds: the groin injury of Naby Keita, during the warm-up. The Guinean joins Matip, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho in the infirmary. The injured list, however, remains relatively modest compared to Liverpool's ultra-busy calendar, just back from the Club World Cup.

The Reds continue on Sunday with the derby against Everton, in the FA Cup (16:01 GMT / 17:01 French).
