On the first day of the year, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 35-year-old female driver of French nationality for driving for 30 kilometers in contradirection on the AP-7 motorway and under the influence of alcohol. Inside the vehicle the suspect was traveling with her minor child. Agents charge him with two crimes against road safety, for recklessly driving and for refusing to perform breathalyzer tests with obvious symptoms.

Several users alerted this Wednesday night that a vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction on the AP-7, within the province of Girona. A patrol located the car and signaled the driver to stop, although she ignored and continued the march. Given this refusal and due to the obvious risk to other users, the Mossos cut the highway southbound and stopped the vehicle within the municipality of Bàscara.

The agents verified that the driver had obvious symptoms of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages and that a baby was traveling in the back seat. Despite this, the woman refused several times to perform the alcohol and drug screening tests. Therefore, the Mossos arrested her for these two crimes and transferred the child to a medical center for recognition before giving it to her relatives. The detainee, without a record, will go to court for a few hours in Figueres.
