The first baby of the year in Kalmar County was in a hurry and was born in the car

Zuhour Ahmad got pain at home in Oskarshamn during the morning of New Year's Day and then it was in a hurry to the hospital in Västervik. But the boy, now named Dawoud, was in such a hurry that the family did not reach the hospital. He was born in the car just south of Västervik.

This was the second child so Zuhour knew what to do during childbirth and never felt scared. Care staff did not arrive, but were able to help and support over the phone and heard that the child cried when he was born and that the mother said she was feeling well.

The family then passed the last bit to the hospital in Västervik. Dawoud was born on January 8, 2020 at 8.48am and is thus the first baby of the decade to be born in Kalmar County.

- We feel great, we are happy, says Zuhour and dad Chaaban when they breathe out in the hospital in Västervik during the afternoon.

- It's nice to be out first, but it feels a little strange that he was born in the car, they say.

At home in Oskarshamn, the big brother is waiting to meet the family's newcomer.
