The secretary general of the CGT Philippe Martinez "sees nothing new" in the statements of President Emmanuel Macron on pensions during his vows Tuesday and "always asks to stop the project" of pension reform, in an interview on Wednesday RMC-BFM TV.

"We have a President of the Republic locked in his bubble who considers that everything is fine in the country," responded Philippe Martinez. "It's self-righteousness".

"As of Monday, we are calling for general meetings and to discuss mobilization again," announces the leader of the CGT. "The alarm signal must be stronger".

Philippe Martinez said he "agreed to speak of arduousness", but observed that "if you lower the retirement age, even those who carry out arduous work will leave later".

The secretary general of the CGT reiterated that he "did not have an invitation" to the next meeting with the government on January 7 to discuss the reform but did not rule out going there: " we did them all, "he said about the consultation meetings on pension reform.

Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed in his vows to the French his determination to "carry out pension reform", while urging the government to "find a quick compromise", as the strike enters its 28th day on Wednesday.
