December 31, 2019 The Council of Virginia Raggi has decided to indicate the area of Monte Carnevale as the site for the disposal of waste in the territory of the Municipality of Rome, in the XI municipality. The site is located about ten kilometers from the Malagrotta megadiscarica, closed in 2013.

The Lazio Region, given the identification of the waste disposal site in the municipal area, in conjunction with the approval of the Capitoline provision, will exclude from the Waste Plan being approved, as per agreement, the indication of the sub-act for the Municipality of Roma Capitale and will have all the necessary activities to allow, as requested by Roma Capitale, a series of extraordinary works at the Rocca Cencia Tmb plant. This was stated in a joint note Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region.

Before the holidays, the two administrations had found an agreement on the waste of Rome which provided for the support of the Region in the temporary management of the garbage against the indication of a site within the Municipality by the Capitol to be built in about 18 months. After saying no to the Falcognana and Tragliatella hypothesis, the choice fell on Monte Carnevale among the so-called 'white areas' indicated by the metropolitan city.
