The League of Arab States today called on Tuesday to "prevent foreign interference in Libya", referring to Turkey, and the Libyan delegate considered that the League is double standards, and threatened to withdraw his country from it.

At the end of an emergency meeting chaired by Iraq at the ambassadorial level, the Arab League Council affirmed in a resolution entitled "Developments in the situation in Libya" on rejecting and preventing foreign interventions that contribute to facilitating the transfer of what he called extremist fighters to Libya, as well as violating international resolutions on the arms embargo, which It threatens the security of the Libyan neighborhood and the region.

The Council stressed the seriousness of violating the Libyan political agreement in a manner that allows foreign military interventions, as well as supporting the political process of the Skhirat Agreement as the only reference for a settlement in Libya, and the importance of involving neighboring countries in the solution.

Libyan delegate
During the meeting, the Libyan delegate at the Arab League, Ambassador Saleh Al-Shammakhy said that "the university's double standards push us to seriously think about the feasibility of staying under its umbrella," considering that the current position of the university is the result of interventions and pressures "of countries supporting the aggression against Tripoli."

The Libyan delegate expressed his surprise at the rapid response to an emergency meeting and the failure to meet Libya’s request by the country concerned. “Where was the Arab League for 9 months, during which we warned against bringing the aggressor into mercenaries?” He said.

Al-Shammakhy confirmed that the National Accord government repelled a new infiltration attempt by retired Major General Khalifa Haftar's forces, reinforced by Emirati armored vehicles, to the airport road south of Tripoli.

Agreement with Turkey
The Arab League statement comes after the signing of two agreements in late November last between the Government of National Accord and Turkey, so that the military agreement provides for the possibility of providing Turkish military assistance to counter the forces of Haftar, and the second agreement provides for the demarcation of the maritime border between Turkey and Libya.

Turkish representatives will vote tomorrow, Thursday, on a memorandum allowing the Turkish government to deploy soldiers in Libya, while the governments of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt supporting Haftar are trying to block this interference, as Egypt called on the United Nations to reject the two agreements.

Ghassan Salameh, the UN envoy to Libya, said in a press statement on Monday that there are mercenaries of several nationalities - including Russians - who have arrived to support Haftar's forces in Tripoli.

In this context, a military source from the Al-Wefaq government said that Haftar's forces had shifted from attack to defending their positions, stressing that they were unable to launch any attack that posed a threat to the sites of the Al-Wefaq forces.

Meanwhile, a young man was wounded by shrapnel of a random shell that fell on his family's home in the Sidi Selim neighborhood, adjacent to the axis of the airport road south of Tripoli.

The Libyan February Channel broadcast a video of what it said was the effects of the bombing of a mosque during the prayers in Tripoli by Haftar's forces.
