“It would be right for the US State Department before sending an ambassador to the country, interested in his knowledge of the history of the state where he has to work,” Volodin said in a statement on the website of the State Duma.

He noted that Mosbacher’s statement is offensive not only to citizens of Russia and the countries of the former USSR, but also to US citizens.

The speaker also recalled that the United States, Britain and the USSR together opposed fascism, despite ideological differences.

“It is necessary to remember this and honor their memory,” Volodin added.

Mosbacher previously stated that Stalin and Hitler decided to unleash the Second World War.
