It is noted that about 10 thousand of these checks were carried out jointly with the territorial bodies of the prosecutor's office, the investigative committee and the internal affairs bodies.

The department was able to identify "about 872 thousand units of nicotine-containing products banned for sale, of which 805 thousand are imported."

As specified, "all nicotine-containing products are withdrawn from circulation."

Also in St. Petersburg, the Sverdlovsk region and the Stavropol Territory "three enterprises were closed at which the specified products were manufactured."

“Materials on the revealed violations were transferred to law enforcement agencies,” the department added.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rospotrebnadzor with the participation of the Prosecutor General and the Investigative Committee to organize unscheduled on-site inspections to prevent the possible sale of non-smoking nicotine-containing products.

Later, Realnoe Vremya reported that the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, signed a law banning the sale of snus and vapes to minors.
